ST ANDREW’S CHURCH
Our church is situated in London Road, close to Wickford’s town centre
At the heart of our worship is the Eucharist, usually celebrated on Sunday and Wednesday mornings. We use contemporary language in our worship, and seek to be a warm, welcoming, and inclusive community. Most services are followed by tea and coffee, giving an opportunity to enjoy each other’s company, to strengthen old friendships, and make new ones. We also hold a monthly Sunday evening Eucharist, a quieter service with an emphasis on healing and wholeness.

St Andrew’s was rebuilt in the 1960s: the church’s simple, spacious interior has been enhanced over the years by the skill of church members who have designed and made banners, window paintings, altar frontals and kneelers. The layout allows for flexibility in worship: some services are given a more intimate feel by being held ‘in the round’.

We encourage lay people to take an active part in our services, reading, leading intercessions, administering the chalice, and serving. Lay members are also involved in pastoral care within the parish, and several have been trained in children’s ministry. St Andrew's is the venue for the parish's monthly "Messy Church"
Our Church Centre, originally built as a mission church in the early 20th century and adjoining St Andrew’s, is much used by the local community for meetings and social events and is also the venue for our coffee mornings: tea, coffee, home-made cakes and scones are served on Saturday mornings from 9.00 until 12.00. There are many ‘regulars’, stopping off from the shopping or meeting friends, and visitors are assured of a warm welcome.

We have an active social life, with concerts, barn dances and quizzes shared with friends from our sister churches and the wider community
